In Episode 44, we explore Deborah Nielsen's book, Breaking Whole: Holding on and Letting Go.
In this episode, we're chatting with Deborah Nielsen on what inspired her to dive into writing and well as what arose for her in this process. Deb has an amazing 30 year plus practice that specializes in both complex and family trauma. Her psychotherapy practice is currently based out of Washington State. She has an MFT and is a registered and board-certified Art Therapist. She also is EMDR Certified and has supported other clinicians as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a highly successful methodology in treating a wide range of traumas. In this capacity, Deb has also served as the San Diego EMDRIA Regional Coordinator, and offered free, informal trainings as well as presented at EMDRIA Conferences. Her presentations have focused on EMDR with children, exploring the metaphor of metamorphosis. Others have focused on Integrative Bridging with EMDR Therapy.
In this episode, we're building on Deb's background and diving into the inspiration behind the title and what it means to us as we explore our own Dynamic Competence. Most importantly, we'll talk about her concept of integrative bridging. It's a way to identify and acknowledge three universal aspects to all of us the adult, the little child, and the wise one.
