Development Programs:  Dynamic Competence provides business management development programs through the Cognitive Competence® and Thinking Styles® programs. All components and modules offered by Dynamic Competence can be customized for consultants and organizations.

Cognitive Competence® is comprised of three key modules:

Cognitive Awareness: This half -day course explains the results of the Thinking Styles reports and introduces the first three basic element of Dynamic Competence.  The purpose of this module is to make the participants aware of both their own preferred thinking styles, as well as the differing styles of others in the group. Outcomes can include understanding your individual profile, applications to your job, contributions to collaborative team preferences, influences on personnel management, and roles in conflict and miscommunication. These course outcomes are tailored to specific issues and/or growth areas within client organizations.

 

Cognitive Flexibility: This full day course expands the five basic element of Dynamic Competenceon of the Cognitive Awareness module and explores thinking styles that are needed to build productive work environments and maximize output.  Outcomes include understanding the need for cognitive flexibility in the workplace, how this flexibility is generated, building effective teams, and maximizing production. These course outcomes are also tailored to specific issues and/or growth areas within client organizations.

Cognitive Action: This two day course builds on the prior modules and moves the participants from awareness to action in dynamic, shifting environments. Outcomes include application of the five basic elements of Dynamic Competence, creating solutions to challenging problems that currently exist, and building capacity for rapid individual and organizational change.

Thinking Styles® and Thinking Smart® Consultant and Human Resource Manager Training:

This two day course focuses on how to integrate Thinking Styles results into existing development tools. Outcomes include awareness of cognitive preferences at the individual and organizational level, improving your understanding of clients and personnel, and deepening the impact of your existing development tools by integrating thinking preferences.

Program and Material Customization:

The single most dynamic aspect of these programs and training materials is that they are fully customizable into present programs, fitting smoothly into and advancing all previously successful materials. The programs and materials can also be changed to reflect the standard language, terminology, and cultural preferences of the group or organization. Because of this adaptability, Cognitive Competence programs will look and feel like a natural extension of previously successful developmental projects, rather than “the next big thing” that is artificially added, and thus irrelevant.

On-Line Assessments: Dynamic Competence is a provider of the Think Smart® and Thinking Styles® assessments. 

Think Smart ®– Think Smart is a brief, yet comprehensive tool that identifies thinking and learning style preferences. It identifies thinking strengths and potential limitations, and offers effective strategies to develop increased thinking flexibility. Through a 74-item questionnaire, the Think Smart profile measures preference levels for 10 different styles of thinking, which are then divided into Sensory Focus, People Focus and Task Focus.

Thinking Styles ® – is the first psychometric instrument specifically designed to identify and measure the cognitive and linguistic dynamics inherent within individuals, teams and organizations. This 169 questions test measures peoples' cognitive and linguistic preferences and levels of flexibility at work for twenty-six 'types' of thinking dimensions. It identifies how preferred thinking preferences drive behavior and communication style and provides insights into how these preferences affect the cognitive strategies and social relationships of people at work. Thinking Styles is ideal for use where the quality of thinking and the strength of working relationships are critical for success. In a team environment, an understanding of the cognitive, linguistic and behavioral dynamics that are operating (usually unconsciously) within the team can be very beneficial in helping individuals work more effectively with their colleagues. Thinking Styles is also useful for individual coaching and style awareness training interventions.

Reporting: The reports generated by both the Think Smart and Thinking Styles assessments offer a very unique scoring system. Not only does it identify and measure the degree to which each person likes thinking in a particular way, it also measures the degree to which each dislikes thinking in a particular way. The report provides the following measure: Four Sensory Focused dimensions, exploring the ways individuals prefer to receive information via their senses; Eight People Focused dimensions, exploring the ways individuals interact with other people; and Fourteen Task Focused dimensions, exploring the ways individuals relate to tasks and activities at work.

Training Materials:

Dynamic Competence distributes on-line and hard-copied training materials to support the development programs that it offers. They also develop customizable training materials. Companies or Consultants may use these training materials to supplement existing materials or as new additions to their development training programs. Furthermore, customizable training materials provide consultant flexibility in the design and focus of their training materials for a wide range of clients.

In addition, Dynamic Competence supports on-line training materials for training trainers and coaches based on tests and client training materials. These workshops are offered through licensed training centers as well as on-line. These training materials are more theoretically based and provide consultants with the deeper knowledge needed to adapt the testing to their particular consulting expertise as well as expand their repertoire.
